MAKI Gallery is pleased to announce BEAUTIFUL SUMMER NOISE, a solo exhibition by Kugenuma, Fujisawa City, Kanagawa based artist baanai at Maebashi Galleria Gallery 2. Since 2017, baanai has continued his artistic practice of filling canvases with the word 'ARIGATOUGOZAIMASU' (translating to ‘Thank you’ in Japanese) layer upon layer. This exhibition showcases the artist’s new series EMERGE and his first sculptural artwork FUTURE WALL -PUSHING THE LIMIT- along with the SWELL / RECONSTRUCTIONand HARMONY series.

In the new EMERGE series, the artist fills the canvas with colors and paints over it so that letters and recurring words emerge. Resulting painting with unpredictably colored letters in this series shows baanai’s playfulness.
