MASAHIRO MAKI GALLERY is pleased to present concurrent solo exhibitions by two artists on our second and third floor gallery spaces, respectively. On the second floor, we will be showing new works created by Anne Kagioka Rigoulet during her artist residency in Luxembourg.

Beginning in July 2019, Anne Kagioka Rigoulet participated in an artist residency program at Bourglinster Castle. The three-month residency is part of an exchange program with Youkobo Art Space, organized by the Ministry of Culture of Luxembourg. During a fulfilling three-month stay, Kagioka was involved in research, experimentation, exchange and artistic production. She was inspired in many ways by the ‘rock` that she encountered there, in which she felt a strong connection with the theme of her artistic output up to that point ‘the fundamental energy of nature’. Having thus found a new motif, she presented a solo exhibition at Bourglinster Castle just before the end of her stay, from Sep. 19 (Thu.) to 22 (Sun.). There, she presented her new series, Element. Our upcoming exhibition marks the first time the series will be shown in Japan. We invite you to view Kagioka’s latest works, which represent a new stage in her artistic practice.
